Murad approves plan for Greater Karachi Bulk Water Scheme
KARACHI:
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Thursday approved the plan for Greater Karachi Bulk Water Supply Scheme K-IV augmentation works Phase-I.
The CM reviewed the progress of the project during a meeting held at CM House and a timeline was also set to start the project in October 2022 and complete it by January 2024. The meeting was attended by Minister for Local Government Nasir Shah, Administrator Karachi Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Sohail Rajput, Principal Secretary to CM Fayaz Jatoi, Secretary Local Government Najam Shah, PD K-IV Salahuddin and other officials.
Minister Local Government Nasir Shah with the support of Secretary Local Government and PD K-IV briefed the chief minister and said that a total cost of the project will come to around Rs53 billion. The first stretch of 28 kilometers-long 72-inch diameter pipeline will be laid from the reservoir to be constructed near Darsano Chano to Y-Junction Landhi Town via Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Quaid-e-Azam park, North-Western area and Bakra Mandi upto Landhi Town.
