The famous project “Kharian-Rawalpindi Motorway” is a 94-kilometer-long motorway that connects the cities of Kharian and Rawalpindi in Pakistan. Cost of Kahrain –Rawalpindi Motorway Project

With exception to budget, this mega project of highway towards Islamabad, Rawalpindi is about 50 Billion it has to be completed within the stipulated timeframe. The motorway is a four-lane, access-controlled highway, which means that it has controlled access points, and vehicles cannot enter or exit the motorway at any point other than designated interchanges. This ensures that the traffic flow on the motorway remains smooth and uninterrupted.

Motorway Interchanges from Lahore to Islamabad sub-Joining with Sialkot motorway to Rawalpindi

Motorway has six interchanges, namely Kallar Kahar, Balksar, Chakri, Bhallar, Daultala, and Morat. These interchanges provide easy access to nearby towns and cities, making it easier for people to travel across the region. Additionally, the motorway has several service areas, rest areas, and toll plazas, which provide necessary facilities to commuters.

Jhelum, Mangla, Dina, Sohawa, Gujar Khan, and Mandra are all populous areas along the proposed motorway's route, which finishes near Rawat, close to Pakistan T-Chowk (where the Islamabad Motorway crosses the N-5). These are the available junctions and interchanges constructed in this six-lane highway project

The Kharian-Rawalpindi Motorway has not only improved the connectivity between Kharian and Rawalpindi but has also reduced the travel time between the two cities. Prior to the construction of the motorway, it used to take around three hours to travel between the two cities. However, with the construction of the motorway, the travel time has been reduced to just one hour, making it an attractive location for people who work in Rawalpindi but prefer to live in a more peaceful environment.

The planned motorway was created as an access-controlled, four-lane infrastructure, taking into account traffic loads. Which, depending on the level of service (LOS) needs, will be expanded to six lanes.

For safer and more effective road operations, intelligent transport systems (ITS) will be used. The plan is based on NHA requirements. The motorway facility's alignment and route were developed with future connectivity to other anticipated projects in mind.
